2020 Challenge Bowl season kicks off with high school division

24 teams face off in knowledge competition 

OKMULGEE, Oklahoma — Love was not the only thing in the air as Valentine’s Day gifts were delivered Feb. 14 at the College of the Muscogee Nation.

The atmosphere was brimming with competition as over a hundred students gathered from various high schools to showcase their knowledge of all things Mvskoke and Muscogee (Creek) Nation during the high school division of the MCN Challenge Bowl.

By the afternoon, Glenpool Fuswvlke would walk away with the bronze. Beggs No Names fought their way through the losers’ bracket to take home second place in a close matchup with Glenpool Hotvlkvlke, who would win the overall contest.

Beggs Black were awarded the esteemed Wilbur Gouge Honors Team Trophy for their sportsmanship and overall respectfulness exhibited during the day.

Kortney Morris from Glenpool High School and Tehillah Wind from Morris High School were the recipients of the 2020 Belvin Hill Scholarship.

Competition will continue Feb. 21 with the middle school division and will conclude Feb. 28 with the elementary division.
