Post Graduate Grants

Master’s Program

The post-graduate program was established to provide financial aid opportunities for members of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation to further their education beyond a bachelor’s degree for a first-time Masters’ Degree. The award amount is determined by the number of hours in which the student is enrolled up to a maximum of 9 hours. The award rate = $250 per credit hour.

Applicants! Please note that applications will be reviewed for eligibility after the deadline. Information and documents will take 6 to 8 weeks post-deadline for notification. Students are urged to continue researching and applying for multiple sources of financial aid as our awards are supplemental awards.

NEW STUDENTS ONLY: Applications and required materials are due to the office by the following dates:

Fall Semester Due By August 1st
Spring Semester Due By December 15th

NOTE: All official transcripts are required, including official transcripts that indicate Bachelor’s degree is earned. Students who pursue a doctoral degree CAN NOT go back to the Master’s Program.

***Students are responsible for submitting all information required!

***Continuing students need to submit their official transcript from the semester in which they were funded, as well as a class schedule for the upcoming semester to stay eligible for the program.

***We will ONLY accept official transcripts; paper copy or your institution’s e-script.

***Due to prior banking institution (OSB) closing operations, Program Scholars must have a checking account. Master’s Grants will be distributed as direct deposits.

***STUDENTS: if your institution is sending an e-script (Electronic Official Transcript) to our office, it must be sent to your grant coordinator and/or our office email (highered@muscogeenation.com).

  • Chart based on funding for Fall and Spring semesters only does not include summer funding.
  • Students in need of summer courses to complete a degree program may be eligible for funding if funds are available.

Summer Session Funding

  • Summer funding depends on the availability of funds
  • Student must be receiving the degree that summer semester or the following semester
  • To be eligible for summer funding students must submit a letter from their academic school advisor of the graduation date and class schedule of summer enrollment.

The student must maintain a 3.0 GPA at the end of each term to remain eligible for the program. Students must remain in good standing with the educational institution.

  • Students that drop up to three credit hours during the semester in which they were funded, will be placed on probation for the following semester.
  • Students that drop more than three hours will be placed on suspension for the following semester.

**Half credit hours will not be considered in the award amounts. (Example: student has 7.5 credit hours, the award will be considered for 7 credit hours)

***ATTENTION DOCTORAL PROGRAM STUDENTS***

The award amounts for the Doctoral Grants as of the academic year 2017-2018 are $14,000 per year or $7,000 per semester.

Doctoral Grant Program application criteria and requirements remain intact. Please continue to plan your financial aid according to your program and school. The following items are required for new student applications:

  • Completed application
  • Copy of tribal enrollment card
  • Education program degree plan/plan of study
  • Copy of transcript showing most recent degree earned
  • Letter of acceptance into doctoral program from an accredited college/university

 

CURRENT DOCTORATE STUDENTS must meet the following requirements to maintain good-standing:

  • Submit an official transcript at the end of each semester
  • Submit a class schedule for each term
  • Must remain in good standing with college/university

Award Amounts:

After eligibility is determined, awards will be completed upon review of the needs analysis that is finalized by the university. The awards will be sent directly to the school to use towards tuition, books, and fees as determined through the needs analysis.

Summer Session Funding

  • Summer funding depends on the availability of funds
  • Student must be receiving the degree that summer semester or the following semester
  • To be eligible for summer funding students must submit a letter from their academic school advisor of the graduation date and class schedule of summer enrollment.

Program Suspension:

Students that have been funded for the Doctoral Degree Program are required to maintain the hours for which they were funded and maintain good standing with the college/university. If the student withdraws from the funded hours or fails to maintain good standing with the college/university, the student can be suspended from the program. During suspension, the student will not be eligible for funding for at least one semester OR until program requirements are met.
