Muscogee 4-H: Ocmulgee Club Open House and Kickoff Event
Okmulgee, OK—There will be an official kickoff of the Mvskoke 4-H: Ocmulgee Club, a new 4-H opportunity in Okmulgee County that centers youth development, cultural connection, and community leadership.
This club is a collaborative effort between OSU Extension and the College of the Muscogee Nation Extension Program, supported by the Federally Recognized Tribes Extension Program (FRTEP). It blends Muscogee (Creek) culture, language, and traditions with hands-on 4-H programming in project areas such as gardening, art, STEM, leadership, health, and more.
At this time, only youth who live in or attend school in Okmulgee County are eligible to officially enroll in the Muscogee 4-H: Ocmulgee Club. All are welcome to attend the open house, learn more, and participate in the evening’s activities.
Our Broader Vision
The launch of this club marks the first step in a larger initiative to establish a sustainable, tribally grounded 4-H Youth Development Program through the College of the Muscogee Nation. Our long-term goal is to create a model that empowers Muscogee (Creek) youth through meaningful learning experiences that reflect their culture, strengthen identity, and provide pathways to leadership, higher education, and community engagement.
Through continued collaboration between OSU Extension and CMN Extension, we hope to grow this program into a lasting resource that serves youth, families, and tribal communities across the Muscogee Nation.
At the kickoff event, families will…
- Learn what 4-H is and how it fosters life skills, confidence, and leadership through project-based learning.
- Explore current 4-H opportunities in Oklahoma, including contests, camps, scholarships, and service projects.
- Hear how this club will intentionally blend Muscogee (Creek) culture with 4-H traditions and hands-on activities.
- Help shape the future of the club by sharing your family’s interests and ideas for the upcoming year.
This event is also a chance for parents and guardians to get involved. We’ll share how adults can support the club as volunteers, cultural mentors, or activity leaders. A thriving 4-H program relies on strong community partnerships—and we welcome your involvement at every level.
4-H enrollment for the 2025–2026 year opens August 1. Staff will be available during the event to help with sign-ups and answer questions.
We look forward to seeing you on August 21 and working together to build the next chapter of 4-H within the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.
